The British Open Show jumping
William had been invited to jump in the eventers class at the The British Open Show jumping on Friday 4th April. It was the first time he had done one of these classes and it proved to be great fun.
The trip up to Birmingham on a Friday night was not great but they arrived in good time. Ballincoola was surprised by his surroundings when they arrived which essentially was a car park at the NEC!
The course was made up of some show jumps and cross country fences and was built by Mike Tucker – all the portable fences from Blenheim were in the arena. It was a twisty course and Max went really well to be third.
Then it was back home to prepare for the trip to Weston – with snow forecast I hope to get a run.
Weston Park
Everyone was dreading the 3.30 am start for the trip to Weston Park. When the team set off the weather was fine but it started snowing when they hit the M5 – they got as far as Wolverhampton before deciding it could not possibly be on and turned round. William made a few calls and decided to re-route to Weston Lawns for some show jumping – after a pit stop at the services for a fry up! William feels very sorry for Janet Plant and her team who would have done everything in their power to make the event happen but the one thing they could not deal with was snow.
Fingers crossed for better weather at Belton next week.
